Welcome!

DogPAC's mission is to promote the health and enjoyment of dogs and their guardians through the provision of off-leash recreation opportunities in Central Oregon.

Since our founding in 2008, over 1,200 people have signed up as supporters. Along with catalyzing the Bend Park and Recreation District's expansion from one to seven off-leash areas (OLAs), we have worked with the Deschutes National Forest to relax some of their 2003 restrictions on off-leash access along the Deschutes River Trail and created Oregon's only groomed dog-friendly ski trail. Above you will find menu buttons for additional information on OLAs, Winter and Summer Trails. We also created our brochure/map to be published late spring 2011 to help dog owners find off-leash recreation opportunities. You will find it many local shops. The inside includes the map and directions. The experiences of other communities demonstrates that Bend and Central Oregon can be dog-friendly, while still respecting the interests of the "off-leash averse."

Here are some of the things we're currently working toward:

  • Off-leash summer access to a portion of the River Trail. Adequate parking in the Good Dog! area.
  • Off-leash summer access to a portion of the quality alpine trails in the Three Sisters Wilderness.
  • Access to non-motorized ski/snowshoe areas north of Cascade Lakes Highway -- including groomed, ungroomed, and tele/AT terrain.
  • Small-dog areas and other features (e.g., turf at Pine Nursery) in Bend's OLAs.
  • Trail and reasonable river/water access in Bend's OLAs. Check out our site and get involved.
